[Bgnet] DNA Marker Upgrades Available

A 37 marker test is perfectly fine, unless trying to prove an undocumented
link in a pedigree. It's just a fine tuning, is all. As Rick is our "key
signature," I want to have his as well defined as possible to use as a
comparison in the future.

My curiosity stems from wanting to use the data to attempt locating Thomas'
origins in the UK.

I would actually recommend starting them out with the 25 marker test to see
how close a match we get from that. if it's tight enough, the expand it to
whatever levels.

Well I know of two male descendants of Ichabod through David (son of Ichabod
and Lydia). Me and cousin Tom in Lima, OH. Plus there are a few others
lying around but I doubt they would be interested in spending the money.

Ichabod - David - Benoni - Thomas H. - George - Leonard - Leonard - Lon (me)

Ichabod - David - Benoni - Thomas H. - Thomas Hill, Jr. - George A. - Tom Wm

I've copied Tom on this message and will also contact him privately.

Lon

P.S. Tell me again why anything more than a 37 marker test would be
necessary?

well, my dad and brother had it but none of the others tested had it.

The problem is finding any more male Bowermans in our line--don't think
there are any, other than 2 of my dad's brothers and their sons, who would
test the same most likely. Go back any farther and the males had daughters
or no children or died without issue. Have to go back to my gr
grandfather's brother who had one son survive and track down any possible
male descendants to today.

I'd love to know more about it all, tho.

xoxo Patti

To do that, we need male descendants from other children of Ichabod, to find
out where the mutation occurred. Was it actually inherent to your line, or
was it passed to others?

That mutation can actually be useful in "splitting the hairs" on family
branches, if it could be isolated.

yep, me too. Also would love to do more with my specific line and
investigate those mutations--lol

Fascinating stuff.

xoxo Patti

Correct, Patti. At that time, it was the most advanced test we had
available, and was more than adequate to meet our needs.

As I understand it, several of the societies will be requiring the higher
test to submit an undocumented link. To bad we couldn't have gotten the
standards set with our case. it might not have been so tough as it will be
now.

I'd be really curious to see just how pure the family signature is!
